LESSON 1

Introduction to the course

In this first module students understand the impact the application of multimodal methods to social policy research have in informing and activating citizens and civil society stakeholders on a given policy issue. From the manufacturing of media attention, to the raising of a nationwide concern, to finally acting upon urgent matters, the democratising of social policy research findings empowers different groups.


This guarantees societies can progress faster by multiplying the efforts of active citizenship.
This module ends by introducing different forms of multimodal social policy research methods, outlining the direction each of the following modules will focus on.

Lesson 1: About

Lesson 1

This Introductory module clarifies what multimodal research methods are and how to situate them within the larger context of social research.
After a brief definition of innovative research methods, the six specific lessons will be introduced.
